Rochana Dahanukar
Meet RSMM's most esteemed and valued Singer, Rochana Dahanukar from Mumbai, India. Trained in Indian Sub-Continental/Hindustani Classical Music with a speciality as a Ghazal Singer.
Having learnt Indian Sub-Continental/Hindustani Classical Music from a very a young age, currently, she is partaking in continuum learning from her present guru. Furthermore, Rochana is a virtuoso in composing, as she has self-composed a plethora of songs from her repertoire.
Rochana's stronghold is her deep sensitivity and sensibility towards the Indian Sub-Continental/Hindustani Classical Vocal genre, the Ghazal. In addition, she thrives in singing other genres of the Indian Sub-Continental/Hindustani Classical Music, including Punjabi Folk, Thumri, Geet, Bhajan etc.
Prof. Shakir Gaya has provided her with the utmost finesse, nuances, syntax, writing, reading, diction, enunciation and pronunciation in Urdu. In addition, Rochana has formally gained a BA(Hons) in Sociology and English Literature, adding to her virtuosity.
Rochana has performed all over the globe, especially making her mark in the USA. She has been performing regularly in India since the early 1970s. Currently, she is very much engroused in spreading her art to others.
Today, Rochana is teaching students the art of Indian Sub-Continental/Hindustani Classical Music, she has a passionate attitude towards passing her experience and art to the next generation of budding Singers. Not only this, she is affiliated with a great number of stalwarts of the Indian Sub-Continental/Hindustani Classical Music pantheon.

Ronaqain Ab Bhi Kiwadon
Zehra, the penner, paints a home picturesque view of flashbacks of an old relationship's mental effect. She states, "even now, the hustle bustles are hidden behind the doors, even today the gatherings are decorated like before".

Indira, the lyricist, shares her pain of romance in this Ghazal. She openly admits it, by saying "it will descend, in the restless islands of the heart, pain and sigh's destinies trace will be brought".

Ek Aina Rubaru Hai Abhi
The lyricist, Ada, imagines the feel of being in love, with the lover. She states "a mirror is present, there is a conversation with its scent", here the mirror being a reflection of her feeling of being in love. She further goes on to share her epiphany in this Ghazal.
The Moonlight
Dair Tak Roshni Thi Kal
The picture painted by the poetess, Zehra, in this Ghazal is serene to a different height. She dreams "till late, last night, there was light, i had clothed myself with the moonlight, last night". She shares the scenery of the night, the moonlight and the fire-flies tantamounting to how she finds herself admist it, that too emotionally.

Ek Benam Si Khoj Hai
"There is one unnamed search going on, in which, we remain in its effect, we make a paper boat and daily travel on it" states the poetess, Shabnam. Here she discusses her anguish and melancholy, relating her pangs and ways to redress it.

Dil Apna Jalaya Hai Kisi
Ada, the poetess, cries and questions her readers "has anyone happily infurned their heart? it comes to be on us, yet, we also pass from it". She questions her feelings and then answers it herself, she shows this beautiful equation in the Ghazal.

Humain To Adat-e-Zakhm-e-Safar
"What do i say? i'm habituated to the wounds of travel, here, the pathway of loyalty is short" screams Zehra, the lyricists. This Ghazal emotes her feelings of longing and forlornment, the constant struggle to convey this to her love.

Koi Khabar Bhi Na Bheji
"Spring, sent no notice on its way arriving, alas, we could of decorated the fate of the eyelashes" is full of heartache and wrench. Ada, the writer, paints a painful picture of melancholy and dejection in this Ghazal.

Ab Mujh Ko Kya Khabar
"Now how would i know if he is here or not? I dont have communication with each and everyone" admits the writer, Shabnam. Revisiting the perks of a relationship, that dont exist anymore, is devastating for her.
